Terezka was born on 28.12.2021 by spontaneous delivery three weeks early as a "healthy little girl".

For the first six weeks she was a sweet sleeping baby. Then she started to take in her surroundings. The tummy position bothered her, where she cried a lot, was very tense and arched to one side and "into a bow"; later she did not want to lift her head at all and tummy time caused her more and more trouble. The more her eyes were open, the more we noticed that her eyes were drooping and twitching. So we took her to the pediatrician for a consultation. Luckily, she recognized that something was not right and referred us to neurology at the hospital in Krč. The neurologist saw us right away in the outpatient clinic and found that her development was not in order, and we were scheduled for an MRI, which was not due to take place until almost three weeks later. Fortunately, a slot opened up two days after this checkup, which apparently saved Terezka from more serious consequences.

Thanks to the earlier examination and diagnosis, after 14 days of hospitalization (at three months of age), it was discovered that Terezka had congenital toxoplasmosis, which had not been detected during pregnancy (it is not routinely tested for), and in that time it had managed to damage her eyesight and brain. Fortunately, despite the bad luck, the disease was still in its active phase, which made it possible to start immediate treatment with special medication that is given three times a day for one year.

Unfortunately, the disease has already irreversibly damaged Terezka's central vision, so she will never see the world the way we do; the extent of the brain damage—mentally—has not yet become apparent, and of course all of this is related to delayed psychomotor development, and epilepsy may appear at any time. At thirteen months, Terezka does not crawl, does not scoot, does not sit, does not walk, does not speak, and cannot even wave bye-bye, clap her hands, etc., and because she refuses to chew, she only eats soft foods (yogurts, purees, milk). 

The financial contribution will be used exclusively for Terezka's needs. It will cover all therapies - physiotherapy,hippotherapy, speech therapy, and special aids that will help Terezka develop physically and mentally and discover our world.
