Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on February 14 and is a holiday for people in love. It is a day when men and women exchange gifts and show each other their love. There are all kinds of ways to enjoy Valentine’s Day, whether with tangible or intangible gifts. But what will please a mom on maternity/parental leave, or one who is already back at work, the most?
Time just for yourself
Every mom will really appreciate having more time to herself. You can get up with the children in the morning and let mom sleep peacefully, and in the evening take care of putting the children to bed again. It will also be nice if you take the children away for the whole day and treat mom to something like wellness, a massage, a manicure, a pedicure, a hairdresser—anything she likes. She will surely be delighted if she can dust off her hobbies, for which she does not have as much time, such as reading a book, some handicrafts (sewing, crocheting, paper weaving) or writing a blog. Maybe mom will be happy if she can go out for coffee with a friend, to the cinema, or perhaps to the pool. It does not really matter how she spends her time; what matters is that she has the chance to be alone with herself and relax.
Time with your partner without children
For strengthening a relationship, Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to leave the children with grandparents and spend time together as a couple. You can go on a trip together somewhere, have dinner out, or just lounge around at home, have breakfast in bed, order food to your home, relax with a film, just chat, or have an intimate moment. There are no limits to imagination. Anything that feels pleasant to you will be very beneficial for your relationship.
A small gift as a bonus
Moms will surely appreciate a small tangible gift in the form of a favorite fragrance, coffee, chocolate, wine, or jewelry. However, it is not a necessity; it depends on the mother’s personality, although no one will refuse flowers.
Let’s be honest, maternity/parental leave is not a holiday at all; it is a demanding period that has unlimited working hours, and every one of us could use a Valentine’s Day like that at least once a month. Try to arrange with your partner whether they could help make that happen for you.
