Sleeping together with children on holiday can sometimes be a real challenge. It very much depends on the room layout, and on the number and size of beds. Sometimes it is enough to push two beds together or move a bed against the wall and the problem is solved. But it is not always possible to move the beds, because there simply is not enough space. So how can you solve it and make shared sleeping safe even on holiday?
Travel bed rail
Since we at Monkey Mum care about safe sleeping even away from home, we created a travel bed rail for this occasion. It is very light, compact and comfortable. It is easy to assemble and attach to any bed with a slatted base and mattress. The rail is 30 cm high and suitable for mattress heights of 10–30 cm. We offer rails in widths of 1 m and 1.2 m.

Bed rails in a travel bag
All our bed rails can be packed into a travel bag and taken with you on holiday. The bag holds 1–3 rails, so if you know that the bed rail will fit at your destination (bed with a slatted base and mattress, bed size), then the travel bag is a great helper on your trip.

Other handy holiday essentials
You can also pack some other handy items in your suitcase, such as:
- camera, video baby monitor - if, after putting the children to sleep, you want to pop to the bar for a drink or have a chat with friends, you can simply keep an eye on your children on the video monitor and go to them immediately if needed;
- sleeping bag - if the child is used to sleeping in a sleeping bag at home too, then that is the obvious choice away from home as well; the child will feel safe and you will not have to keep covering them up during the night if they kick the blanket off (we offer sleeping bags with legs and without);
- waterproof sheet, mattress protector - some children may not feel safe in an unfamiliar environment and may have an accident during the night, so it is a good idea to pack a mattress protector or a waterproof sheet straight away;
- travel cot - for some children, sleeping in a travel cot may be the best solution, as it can be folded up neatly for the car and taken wherever you need it.
In short
Sleeping together while travelling can be more complicated, especially when you do not know what your holiday room will look like - the bed size, bed arrangement, etc. Our travel bed rails are unquestionably a great helper; they are very light, compact and comfortable. They can be bought in lengths of 1 m or 1.2 m. Another option is to pack the rails you use on your bed at home. They fit into a travel bag, and if you know that the bed rail will fit at your destination, then that is the simplest solution. You can also pack a video baby monitor, a sleeping bag for your child, a mattress protector for any accident, or a travel cot.
What has your experience been with sleeping together with children while travelling? Do you use any other handy essentials?
