Yeah, I know that starting an e-shop/blog/forum/bazaar in the summer, and right in the middle of the coronavirus crisis on top of that, isn’t exactly ideal, but trust me when I say I believe it will (in time) take off.
Yesterday I even read an article saying that a successful e-shop can take a good five years to really get going... well, I don’t know if I can handle that, but so be it. Lída and I will persevere, because the future of so many moms depends on it - moms who will become gentler and healthier and will carry their babies around like crazy.
At the same time, I would completely forget about my book. It’s called The Theory of Motherhood, and enough money was raised for it in the Pointa publishing house pre-sale for it to actually be published. So now I’m getting one illustration after another from the designer Zuzana Burgerová, and it’s so beautiful that I can’t (really, I just can’t) wait for the book to come out. Above all, you know what, I believe it will help a lot of moms in the first weeks and months of baby life. I need this book to come out. Then I’ll carry a few copies around in my pockets and give them to moms. For example, just last month we’ve had neighbors here in Podbaba whose baby keeps crying. Especially in the evening, that endless evening screaming. And I’d so love to go to her, give her the book, put a wrap in her hand, and say she should read the book and that would be it. But I just don’t know how to get to her, because I don’t know which entrance or which doorbell. So I’m just hoping I’ll run into her somewhere on a walk...
Monkey Mum will be here for all loving, gentle moms. Of course, from time to time we’ll be sharing Monkey Mum website successes so fans stay in the loop. We can already boast nearly 100 likes on FB and 3 orders (don’t ask who I forced :D). Plan, version A - pour as much as possible into FB and PPC ads, hand out business cards and discounts like crazy, and be surprised when things start getting serious!
