How to have safe and peaceful co-sleeping

Jak na bezpečný a poklidný společný spánek

Sleep is undoubtedly a very important part of our lives. We wouldn’t last long without sleep. In addition to the length of sleep, its quality is also crucial. Most mothers get up several times a night to their children and even though they should be rested according to the number of hours slept, they are on the contrary very tired. Sleep tends to stay rather in the light phase, the mother reacts to any sound, and may even be nervous about, for example, the breathing monitor, which could suddenly trigger an alarm. That is why co-sleeping can be the best option for many families, helping everyone get better quality sleep. An important part of calm and safe sleep is also a reliable mattress, which provides the necessary support for both parents and children. How can you make it comfortable and safe at the same time?

A crib next to the big bed

If you are afraid to take your baby into the big bed, you can push the baby crib up next to your bed. Adjust the height so that both mattresses are level and remove the side panel that would prevent you from accessing the crib. This way you will sleep separately, but still together. In addition to not having to get out of bed and go to the crib or even to the next room, you can also comfortably breastfeed your baby lying down this way.

Bed rails from Monkey Mum

Perhaps you do not have enough space in the bedroom to have a crib next to the big bed as well, and in that case it is better to get bed rails for the big bed. Thanks to them, you can all sleep together in one bed, just as people used to do here in the past and as many countries around the world do today. When the baby sleeps next to you, you do not need any breathing monitor, because you can beautifully tune in to each other in your sleep. Breastfeeding is also easier thanks to co-sleeping. Not only does the close proximity to the baby support lactation, but you can also breastfeed half asleep and get better quality rest.

Safe sleep on holiday

If you are used to co-sleeping with your children and are worried about how to handle it on holiday, we have a great trick for you. At Monkey Mum, we also thought about this option. With our travel bed bumper, you will no longer have to worry about what bed arrangement you will have in the room. Simply attach the bumper to the bed and you can sleep comfortably as if you were at home.

In short

Co-sleeping may not suit all parents, and those who choose it usually then think about how to do it in practice. One option is to push the baby crib up against the double bed, remove the side panel and adjust the mattresses so they are at the same height. This increases the sleeping space and the child will still sleep in their own crib. Another option is to take the child into the big bed, install bed rails and enjoy safe sleep. If you also need to sleep together on holiday, then nothing could be easier than packing a travel bed bumper, thanks to which you will be able to sleep comfortably even away from home.
